i miss when it was good
December 2025-present
i miss when it was good is the working title for this series. I keep repeating this phrase because it is so sadly true; I can only miss the things that are no longer here, and because they are no longer good, they are no longer. This realization offers some relief to my yearning for things that no longer exist. Each piece holds a word or phrase that explores this kind of dialectical opposition; where does love go after loss? How do you bear the unbearlable task of love someone you’ve lost? What does it feel like to have a heart that’s open to the crushes and the ache, and what happens when goodbye’s hold discernment? The traditional ‘around the world’ quilt pattern holds this exploration as new worlds open up to me metaphorically as I move through grief, and also literally as I explore the way technology through dating apps and social media make international connection possible.
